23 vintage cars were
registered for the 11th Island Challenge in Victoria ~ from Victoria
and Sidney, and as far away as Castlegar. The Comfort Inn &
Suites was the host hotel and was centrally located for the various
activities planned for this weekend. Registration took place on Friday afternoon and after dinner on their own, the participants gathered for a Meet & Greet in the Breakfast Room of the hotel. |

On Saturday, after
breakfast and drivers' meeting, the tour left the hotel for a 36 mile
drive to Sooke. The route meandered through the West Burnside
area; out around Prospect Lake; up and around Bear Mountain; through
Langford and around Glen Lake; and then out to Sooke. The
destination was the Sooke Region Museum, where participants were
divided into two groups ..... one group ate lunch while the other had a
guided tour of the museum, lighthouse, etc. And then, these two
groups traded places. The return route toured around Sooke and through Metchosin, back to the hotel. After a rest, participants were on their way again, to the Colwood Golf Club for dinner. The Carter Family from Duncan provided the evening's entertainment. |
On Sunday,
participants were invited to join the VCCC Victoria Chapter at its
Annual Corn Roast held at Heritage Acres on Lochside
Drive, and several folks were seen there, enjoying the hot dogs and
corn-on-the-cob. Thanks to Co-Chairs, Pete & Terry Seward and Paul & Liz Taylor, and their wonderful committee, for putting on another outstanding Island Challenge. |
