Despite predications of possble showers, this year's Corn Roast turned
out just fine: cooler temperatures and slightly cloudy -- did not
deter our loyal members from enjoying this annul September event.
Attendance may have been down a bit from last year, but Heritage
Acres still had plenty of vintage cars on display today. And, it
was great to see members bringing their families -- as this is
certainly a good opportunity to spend time together.

The
food (fresh corn-on-cob, hot dogs and ice cream) was delicious as usual
-- cooked up and served by your most capable volunteers, under the
direction of Dave & Judy Wallace and Marc Brown.
Dave Hopkins of Heritage Acres
was in charge of steaming the corn, as usual -- this is a very
interesting process. If you haven't paid much attention to it in
the past, perhaps next year you should take a few minutes and stop by
and chat with Dave about his steam machine!!

Another great addition to our Corn Roast at Heritage Acres is the contribution made by the Vancouver Island Model Engineers.
This group of dedicated model train enthusiasts has built up, over the
past few years, an incredible showcase for their amazing model
trains. Their beautiful brick roundhouse to house their precious
models; several miles of track, bridges and a tunnel, realistic
signposts, etc. -- are all a testament to the hard-work and commitment
of their members.
Our members and their families always appreciate having the trains running for our Corn Roast -- thank you, Model Engineers!

As usual, if it were not for the energy and passion of our volunteers, this event would never happen.
A huge thank you to Dave & Judy Wallace and Marc Brown for
organizing this event. Also, thanks to Dave Hopkins and Heritage
Acres; and finally to the Vancouver Island Model Engineers.
Again, thanks to our photographers, Richard Johnson, Liz & Paul Taylor, for sharing their pictures.
