The
weather for this month's Sunday Run was quite nice -- sunny, with a few
clouds and a brisk breeze that felt colder than it actually was.
We made it through the run without
moisture, but it started to sprinkle as we left the cafe for home.
There was a good turnout for this time of year, of 27 people, representing 17
memberships, and driving 12 vintage cars.

Richard's
route took us along Burnside to McKenzie, and then all the way to the
end, through UVic and down to the bottom of Sinclair hill. We
then followed Cadboro Bay Road, through the Uplands and past the Roll
of Honour memorial in Uplands Park.
The route followed along to Fairfield Road, passing Ross Bay Cemetery,
in which many veterans are buried. Turning on to Moss Street and
then Dallas Road, we drove along the waterfront around to the Inner
Harbour, passing the Cenotaph on the corner of the grounds in front of
the Parliament Buildings.

Turning
onto Government Street and then onto Wharf Street, passing The
Homecoming statue overlooking the harbour. We crossed over the
Johnson Street Bridge and into Esquimalt. Cruising along Esquimalt
Road, we passed Memorial Park in downtown Esquimalt.
We turned onto Admirals Road and onto Colville Road, passing the
entrance to the Veterans' Cemetery, "God's Acre", which is actually
inside the property of Gorge Vale Golf Club.

The
route carried on along Lampson, Bewdley, Peters and Lyall, ending up at
our destination: Princess Mary Cafe, where their private room was
waiting for us. 22 participants stayed and enjoyed warm drinks
and meals or snacks, amid the decor of vintage marine photos and
memorabilia.
