January 1st, 2013 -- New Year's Day weather seemed very promising early
in the morning, but then our Annual New Year's Day Run doesn't take
place until the afternoon!!
And .... the weather did continue to co-operate and at least 77 people
decided to come out to welcome 2013 and to start off another great year
of vintage car club touring!!
There were 35 vintage vehicles and rods (and 4 modern cars) --
inlcuding one convertible with the top down, and one Model T Touring
with the top up but no side curtains!! Some of our members are
very brave and hardy participants -- well done, fellows!!

Brent Morrison arranged for this year's route, which was almost 22 miles long and took about 75 minutes.
Whilst ensuring that tradition was adhered to and included the drive
along Beach Drive and the Victoria waterfront -- this year's route
charted a course along Gorge, Harriet, Boleskine, Saanich, Vernon to
McKenzie. Followed McKenzie to Braefoot and zigzagged through to
Shelbourne; then over into Gordon Head. We drove around part of
UVIc, down Sinclair hill and onto Cadboro Bay Road. The route
then picked up the Scenic Waterfront Drive all the way to James Bay and
Downtown Victoria; ending up driving up Johnson Street to our
destination.

The Reception Centre
at McCall Bros. Funeral Home was ready for our arrival -- with hot beverages and donuts for everyone.
Thank you to Brent Morrision for organizing the run; Brent and Martha Morrison for
looking after the donuts. Thanks to Paul and Liz Taylor for organizing the beverages. And finally, thanks to McCall
Bros. for
the use of their Reception Centre.
