Happy New Year's to Everyone
and Best Wishes for 2016!!
It was reported that there were 58 cars and over 100 people attending
this first run of the year. In addition to our Chapter members,
there were folks from the Torque Masters Club, and others.
The Mustard Seed Food Bank benefited from everyone's generosity, with 13 bags of non-perishable food items and $213 cash donated. |
Brent Morrison
designed our driving tour, which included a drive along the
newly-reopened Tillicum Road. The route meandered through the
Gorge- Tillicum neighbourhood, ending up on Douglas Street.
After following Douglas all the way through downtown, we worked our way
through James Bay and over to Beach Drive, for the usual waterfront
cruise.

After
circling Clover Point and returning to Beach Drive, we drove through
scenic Oak Bay (Dorset Rd., Musgrave St., Hampshire Rd., Bowker Ave.,
Cadboro Bay Rd.). Then back towards downtown along Fort Street
and Quadra Street, and to our destination: McCall Bros. Funeral Home.
The Reception Centre was warm and welcoming, with donuts and hot beverages for all.

Thank
you to Brent & Martha Morrison for organizing the donuts and the driving tour. Thanks also to Paul & Liz Taylor for setting up the room and keeping the coffee and beverages coming.
Several volunteers stayed behind and helped with the clean-up -- your contributions are greatly appreciated.
As McCall's will be closing their downtown location and moving their
operation out to Royal Oak, this will be the last New Year's Day
Reception to be held here. The Victoria Chapter appreciates their
long-time support and generosity.
