2013's
May Sunday Run was held on the holiday weekend -- but that did not have
any impact on the attendance. Warm, sunny weather helped to bring
out the older cars -- including some top-down convertibles!!
Members
saw that the pink early Spring blossoms are mostly gone now -- replaced
by the vibrant yellow of the broom bushes -- much in evidence along our
total route.
There were 22 vintage cars
and 26 members represented, with
a total of 49 people in attendance.

Pete's
route took us out through Colwood and onto Sooke Road. There was
a bit of a slowdown near Jacklin Road and Sooke Road, due to higher
volumes of traffic heading to the Luxton Fair. However, our route
saw us driving along Happy Valley Rd., Lindholm Rd., Kangaroo Rd.,
Barrow Rd., La Bonne Rd., Liberty Rd. to Rocky Point Rd.
Then a very pretty little jaunt down Lombard Drive. This
narrow one-lane road is lined with beautiful 100-year old trees and is
a Metchosin historical site.

We
then meandered along William Head Rd. to Pearson College Dr. and a
drive through the campus of Pearson College -- to the excitement and
pleasure of those students and staff still on campus.
|
|
We returned to William Head Rd. and back to Happy Valley Rd -- then
taking another scenic side trip along Glen Forest Way, Sundance Rd.,
Pears Rd. and back to Metchosin Rd. A quick loop around Duke Rd.
brought us back onto Metchosin Rd. (although some folks decided not to
do this lovely seaside loop!)
Sooke Rd. delivered us to our destination: Royal Roads Cafe, for our refreshment stop and fellowship.

And .... thanks to Pete Seward
for putting together this delightful Sunday Run.
