Amid high hopes and
anticipation, our March Sunday Run started out in high winds and
blustery weather, with the odd sprinkle thrown in.
Despite
the uncertain weather, there was a good turnout -- we counted 6 vintage
cars, 16 modern cars and 39 people in attendance.

John
King's driving route led us along West Burnside Road, Grange, Violet,
Interurban, Marigold to Carey.
Then
we

-- Chatterton Way, Emily Carr, Royal Oak and Amblewood.
This
worked into Cordova Bay Ridge neighbourhood -- Seamist Place, Searidge,
Haliburton, Wesley, Claremont, Santa Clara and Cordova Bay Road.
|
|
Following
along Alderley Road and Sayward Road, then there was the rural farms of
the Hunt/Lochside valley -- Hunt Road, Welch and Lochside.
Crossing
the Pat Bay Highway on Island View Road, we headed out East Saanich
Road to the Victoria Airport. Motoring along Canora Road and
Canso Road, arriving at our destination: VANCOUVER ISLAND

John had arranged a tour of the facility for us, which was very
informative and interesting. We saw several Sikorskys undergoing
upgrades, other helicopters being repaired, as well as some that were
all ready to go.
VIH
Helicopters Ltd. is Canada's oldest privately owned helicopter company,
having been in continuous operation since its incorporation in
1955. A fact that they are very proud of.

John
had also arranged for interested folks to have short helicopter rides
after the tour. However, due to the very stormy weather, the
helicopter rides were postponed until next Sunday -- March 20th.
**
Note: the weather was much better on March 20th, and 24 folks
took advantage of the offer and enjoyed their helicopter rides.
See below for special photos from the helicopter rides. **

John King has also reserved a separate section of Mary's Bleue Moon Cafe
for our Club. Most members and guests stayed and enjoyed a
warm beverage and/or an early dinner.

Thanks
to John King for
organizing this special Sunday Run, and thanks also to the Staff of Vancouver Island Helicopters for their time -- for both Sundays!

The following photos were taken on
Sunday, March 20th -- during the rescheduled Helicopter flights.
