The
weather was sunny and warm, with a few cloudy periods thrown in -- a pretty good day for a Father's Day Car Run.
With another good
turn-out, 24 memberships represented by 41 people; and 21 vintage cars - run
organizer, Pete Seward was pleased. |
Pete's route took us out Burnside Road to Helmcken and Watkiss Way,
past VGH. Onto the Highway 1A to Ocean Boulevard and along the
Esquimalt Lagoon. We carried on out to Metchosin, via Milburn
Dr., Metchosin Rd., Latoria Rd., Kalahanie Dr., Dicker Rd., Happy
Valley Rd., Glen Forest Way, Sundance Dr, Pears Rd., and back to
Metchosin Rd. and Happy Valley Rd.

Members had been invited to stop and visit the Metchosin School Museum and the Metchosin Pioneer Museum.
Quite a number of members
stopped to visit the Metchosin School Museum -- a one-room schoolhouse
that opened in 1872. It was closed in 1914 and was re-opened from 1942
to 1949.
|
Pete Seward speculates that there
much have been a larger replacement for the schoolhouse after 1915,
because he has a school photo of his aunt taken at that replacement
school.

After viewing the artifacts on display in these museums,
particpants continued on to the Fishers' Farm, for refreshments and
socializing.
The coffee stop was hosted by Tom & Helen Fisher and Mark & Sue Fisher. The Club supplied the donuts.
|
At
the close of the afternoon, Tom Fisher invited a few club members on a
guided tour of their heritage home. What a wonderful home --
lovingly restored and beautifully decorated.

Our
thanks to Pete Seward for another great Sunday Run and Father's Day
tour. And to the Fisher Family for their generous hospitality.
