It
was another lovely Sunday for this special Manifold Tour.
The
Vinettes organized this run -- a fairly long run, including a bit of
seal-coated pavement -- but everyone found their way and ended up at
the destination!!
This run was well supported by 33 people, in 20 vintage cars and 3 modern cars. |
The
Vinettes' route headed out to Colwood -- along West Burnside, Old
Island Highway and onto Sooke Road. Then it was off to Metchosin,
via Metchosin Road and Happy Valley Road. We reached East Sooke
by way of Rocky Point Road and East Sooke Road.
We completed the circle drive around Seagirt Road, returning to East
Sooke Road. The route followed Gillespie Road, Sooke Road and
back to Happy Valley Road -- and our destination. |

The
hot weather encouraged most folks to find a shady spot for their picnic
-- tables had been set out by our hosts for those who wished and the
rest ate on their laps.
Several people cooked (or at least, warmed) their meals under the hoods
of their cars. See the photos above that show their creativity
and resourcefulness in attaching their food to the engine.
For those unable to do this, loaded picnic baskets and coolers sufficed.

|
Most folks stayed to socialize and
enjoy the pastoral setting.
Thanks
to the ladies of the Vinettes for organizing the drive, and to our
gracious hosts: Tom, Mark & Sue for sharing their home and
providing
the ice cream, cookies, coffee and tea.
Tom kindly showed people through his lovingly restored heritage home and described many of the numerous antiques on display.
