	It was a rather dull and gray day for our January Sunday Run -- but, as predicted ..... not a raindrop in sight!! The dry weather brought out a pretty good turnout: there were 24 cars (18 vintage and 6 modern); 22 Victoria Chapter members and 2 members of the Torque Masters Club.
The reason for the title of today's run, "CHARIOTS OF FIRE", became clear quite early on in the tour. This run took us past 12 different FIRE HALLS! We left the meeting place and headed over to View Royal, driving past the View Royal Fire Hall on Old Island Highway. The next one was the Esquimalt Fire Hall on Park Place. We then passed by three Victoria Fire Halls: Michigan Street, Yates Street and Bay Street. Saanich Fire Hall on Vernon Avenue was next; then the Royal Oak Fire Hall on Elk Lake Drive.
	Carrying on out the Saanich Peninsula, we passed the Central Saanich Fire Hall on Mt. Newton X Road; the North Saanich Fire Hall on McTavish Road; then the Sidney Fire Hall on Third Street. Leaving Sidney and heading out towards Swartz Bay, we passed by another North Saanich Fire Hall on Wain Road; and finally ended up back at the brand-new Central Saanich Fire Hall on Keating X Road.
Due to the length of the drive, quite a few people chose not to complete the tour. But those who did, were treated to a most informative tour of the award-winning new facility that houses the Central Saanich Fire Department. Members were very impressed with all aspects of the operation, especially the functionality of the design -- i.e. location of the equipment rooms, uniform room, workshop, etc. And, of course, we were all very thrilled to see that the fire hall did, in fact, have a shiny, brass fire pole -- even though we were not allowed to try it!!
	Some members headed over to Sassy's Family Restaurant to have a bite to eat after the tour. Thanks to Dave & Becky Rogers for organizing this great Sunday Run!!
