| January 15, 2012 "Blast It!" Sunday Run ~ organized by Pete Seward |

After a typical Victoria snowfall, the weather cleared up nicely and the sun shone on our Sunday Run. There were 27 people representing 21 memberships -- the lower atttendance was definitely related to the weather conditions. Only seven vintage cars made the tour. |
| Pete
Seward's original plan was to break the group into two parts.
However, due to the smaller numbers, he decided to keep everyone
together. The first part of the tour led us directly to our
destination: "Blast It!" -- a do-it-yourself sandblasting shop at
2639 Turner Street. |

Many people found the well-equiped sandblasting facility quite interesting. Several members brought rusty car parts to try in one of the four sandblasting units. Even some of the ladies tried their hands at it! The shop was very clean and compressed air is expelled from the sandblasting cabinets through filters, so that the air is completely dust- and contaminent-free. There are three blasting media available -- walnut shell, glass bead and garnet sand. Customers may also bring in their own blasting media, if they wish. After the tour of the shop, members proceeded along a 45-minute drive -- through Esquimalt, West Burnside, View Royal and back to Esquimalt. |

The
coffee stop was at Serious Coffee in Esquimalt Plaza. Thanks to
Peter's step-daughter, Erin, for finding the coffee shop. Also, thanks to Paul Taylor for suggesting this facility for a tour; and of course, a big thank you to Pete, for another interesting run. (The above report was based on a submission by Pete Seward.) |
