The
weather was looking great for today's run -- the day before had been
sunny and nice and Sunday morning was good too. However, the
afternoon brought some dark clouds in the distance, but the vintage
cars were fortunate ... some of us got sprinkled on on the way home,
but that was all.
These Spring-like conditions contributed to a pretty good turnout of members with their vintage
cars. There were 17 vintage cars and 24 members represented, with
a total of 41 people in attendance.

Following
the "Hearts & Flowers" theme: Liz distributed brightly
wrapped chocolate hearts to all participants at the start of the
tour. Then Paul's route led us around some of the "flower"
streets located in the Interurban area: Marigold, Tulip,
Violet. From there the route meandered through Wilkinson/Mann,
and then a circuitous route took us from Quadra Street through
Broadmead to Royal Oak Drive. We then crossed Royal Oak Drive and
circled around onto Lochside Drive and drove along scenic Cordova Bay
Ridge. Views of the Strait of Georgia were quite clear today.
We crossed back over Hwy. 17 and toured around the north end of Elk
Lake and onto West Saanich Road -- back to the Interurban/Burnside
region; and then up Watkiss Way to Creed Road, and our
destination: Highland Pacific Golf Course.

There was a very good variety of vintage cars on tour today ..... from a 1923 Model T Touring to a 1998 Viper RT/10.
Along the route, a few early Spring blooms were bravely showing their
faces -- a few daffodils, lots of snowdrops, pink heather, one or two
ornamental cherry trees and the occasional azalea. You have to
love Victoria in the Spring!!

Folks were invited to gather at the Highland Pacific Golf Course for
refreshments -- almost everyone took advantage of this opportunity to eat and
socialize.
Thanks to Paul and Liz Taylor for an interesting run.
