The sun was warm and bright -- a fine summer afternoon -- great for cruising in our old cars.

There
were a total of 16 cars (13 vintage and 3 modern), with 29 people participating.
Sixteen people stopped off at The Marigold Cafe for coffee and socializing.

Paul
& Liz planned this route from Saanich to Sidney.
We
headed out on West Burnside to Marigold and Carey Road. Then a
short jaunt through the Oakridge area: Oakridge, Ridgebank,
Springridge, to Vanalman and Mann Ave. Wilkinson becomes Royal
Oak Drive, and then along Cordova Bay Road, passing the Cordova Bay
Golf Course.

We
turned onto Hunt Road, which becomes Welch Road -- meandering through
the Martindale Valley. We drove along Martindale Road to
Lochside, and to Island View Road and onto Highway 17, for a short way.
We turned onto Mt. Newton X Road to Lochside Drive again, which ultimately becomes Fifth Street in Sidney.
|
We
carried on through Sidney: Malaview Ave., Resthaven Drive and
McDonald Park Road to the overpass over Highway 17. We followed
Wain Road to West Saanich Road to Willingdon Road.
After travelling alongside the Airport, we turned onto East Saanich
Road to Lowe Road, Emard Terrace, Moxon Terrace, Amity Drive, Bourne
Terrace to Central Saanich Road. Mt. Newton X Road took us to our
intended destination, the White Spot. However, they were closed
due to a maintenance issue, so the coffee stop was moved to The Marigold Cafe on Lochside Drive -- a lovely new coffee shop where the former Marigold Nurseries were located.
