Our
August 2015 Sunday Run was inspired by Norrie and Rose Spencer, who
celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary earlier this summer, in July.
They wanted to share their celebration with their car club friends and
invited members from the Victoria Chapter, VCCC, and those of the Model
A Car Club too.
The weather was warm and sunny -- which was perfect for those folks driving open cars.
There was a good attendance of members and vintage cars -- taking
into account it is summer, etc. -- 41 people -- 20 vintage cars and
five modern cars -- including seven Model As; and one VCCC couple from
the Cowichan Chapter.

Paul Taylor planned the route -- approximately 24 miles long and taking about 60 minutes. We left the parking lot,
along West Burnside Road, Helmcken Road, Wilkinson Road to Royal Oak Drive.
Then along through Broadmead via Boulderwood Drive, Amblewood Drive,
Seamist Place and Sea Ridge Drive. The route wended its way along
Cordova Bay ridge: Haliburton Road, Delmonte Avenue, Piedmont
Drive, Santa Clara Avenue and Cordova Bay Road.

We then headed over to the west side of the Pat Bay Highway:
Alderley Road, Sayward Road, Hamsterley Road, Brookleigh Road.
Touring out towards the Saanich Peninsula: Oldfield Road,
Brookhaven Road, Old W. Saanich Road, McTavish Road and E. Saanich Road.
We headed back along Veyaness Road, White Road, Seabrook Road to Meadowbank Road and Rosemeade Farm.

Norrie & Rose welcomed us all to their beautiful home and farm -- with its lovely grounds all set up for the party.
There was cake, fresh berries and ice cream, and hot and cold beverages provided.
Our hosts circulated and visited with everyone, and encouraged guests
to stroll around the grounds and take in the fountains, pond and forest
paths.
They were congratulated by fellow club members on their 50th
Wedding Anniversary!!
