Our 3rd Summer Pot
Luck Picnic dawned bright and clear and was a perfect day for cruising in an open car.
Organizers were pleased with the turnout: 25 members and their families/guests (including 11 vintage vehicles taking
the run). |
Paul's route (FROM LAKE TO CAKE) took participants along some familiar roads and toured around Prospect LAKE, Beaver LAKE, Elk LAKE. After winding our way out the Saanich Peninsula and by the Airport, we arrived at Dogwood Road and the beautiful home of our hosts, Jamie
and Sherrill Cox.

|
As is often the case with
pot
luck affairs, the variety of the offerings was outstanding -- cooked
ham and turkey provided by our hosts; salads (jellied, pasta, potato,
vegetable); beans; devilled eggs; rolls and butter; and so on.
And, if you had any room left, the dessert table was sure to fill
you up -- with an ample selection of sweets and CAKE!
|
Everyone
had set up their
chairs
around the garden and took advantage of the relaxed setting to
catch up on news of summer activities. Sherrill Cox led a very
informative garden tour around their extensive grounds, and we all
marvelled at
the wonderful array of flowers, trees, vegetables, berries and all
things green and growing.

After
everyone had had their fill of the good food, and the clean-up was
done; the members thanked Jamie and Sherrill once again for hosting
this delightful summer event.
Thanks also to Paul Taylor for
the enjoyable driving tour. And, of course, thanks to all of the
members for sharing their favourite dishes with us all.
