A
lovely sunny afternoon brought a great turn-out for this special Sunday
Run. We were pleased to see some guests with their vintage cars
joining us too.
There were 26 vintage cars and 4 modern cars, with
a total of 46 people in attendance.
|
Bill's
route followed West Burnside Road, McKenzie, Carey and Wilkinson.
Crossing West Saanich Road, and on to Royal Oak Drive. Then along
Elk Lake Drive, across the Pat Bay Highway and up Haliburton.
Following the route through Cordova Ridge: Del Monte, Piedmont,
Santa Clara to Cordova Bay Road. Then a quick turn onto Alderley
Road to Sayward, again crossing the Pat Bay Highway.

We
travelled beside Elk Lake, along Hamsterly and Brookleigh. Then
drove along Oldfield to Sparton, to West Saanich Road to Interurban
Road. A left turn on Markham Road brought us to the newly-opened
Trades Education & Innovation Centre at Camosum College.
Around the back, parking was available for the vintage cars right
inside the Automotive Shop, and the others parked outside in the sun.

Patrick
Jones was waiting for us and welcomed everyone to the new Automotive
Shop -- very large and still very clean!! (There was going to be
some cleanup required after we left because you know what old cars do
.... small spots of engine fluids were seen on the floor is numerous
places!!)

- Patrick is justifiably
proud of this wonderful new facility. He gave us a comprehensive
tour of the automotive shop, classrooms, other technical shops in the
building; and the bright common area for students to relax between
classes.

- Returning to the
Automotive Shop, snacks and beverages had been laid out by Jane &
Gordie Thomas -- courtesy of the Victoria Chapter. Everyone
enjoyed this tour -- Patrick answered each and every question, and made
us feel very welcome.

A hearty thank-you to PATRICK JONES -- for taking the time to show us around. Also, a big thank-you to BILL BOUCHARD
for organizing this drive and tour -- although it was rumoured that
Bill decided to try a "new" route, rather than stick to the published
tour!! And, finally a warm thank-you to JANE & GORDIE THOMAS for organizing and distributing the beverages and snacks.
